What a great Wedding Bazzar - Spring 2008

Well, we had a great Wedding Bazaar on April 13, 2008.

The vendors enjoyed meeting all the brides and it appeared that the brides enjoyed the vendors too! Some brides found "the Dress" with Myrna, and other "brides to be" found some great items from the "past brides".

We were able to raise $300 for Basics for Babies from the donations received as the entrance fee. This will be given to the Organization along with other donations received throughout the year, during the annual breakfast that JRFM holds in December.

Her are just some pictures from the Bazaar this past spring....the next Wedding Bazaar will be in April of 2009. See you there!

Wedding Bazaar - April 13th, 2008

It's coming soon! Yes, the 2nd Wedding Bazaar is coming just around the corner.

There are some great vendors returning, new vendors added as well as a great selection of second hand wedding items and wedding crafts that will be available.

Of course, don't forget the Wedding Dress Gallery with second hand (some even new) dresses for you to try on right there...we have a lovely fitting room area all set up. Don't forget to bring cash as this is truly a "Swap Meet" style event. If you find that dress that is "the one", best to make sure you can purchase that dress on site.

Keep checking back to see some pictures of dresses that will be available for purchasing.

Admission is a $2 donation to Basics for Babies.

NEXT WEDDING WORKSHOP

On February 24th, 2008 a Wedding Workshop will be held in Burnaby at the Scandinavian Centre, where you can put to rest ANY question you may have about planning your wedding. The first questions being, what is a wedding workshop and why should I attend?

First things first! The Wedding Workshop is designed to assist anyone planning a wedding. The workshop consists of the following features:

* The Bridal Think Tank - You have an evening of sitting with other brides to talk about your concerns and share ideas that you have each come up with.

* Electronic Workbook - Upon registration, you will receive via email, a workbook that has a budget sheet, MC checklist, Wedding Emergency Kit checklist, Guest List Merge abilities, etc.

* Details R Us It’s all in the details! As a Wedding planner myself, I know that the little details are what make or break a wedding. At the work shop, you will be given a heads up on what to watch for when booking a DJ, florist, photographer, what you should talk about with the caterer and how to delegate to the people helping out with the wedding.

* Problem Solving You will receive tips on how to problem solve if plans don’t go your way. You will be given scenarios and you can discuss them as a group.

* Vendor Analysis At the workshop, you will have access to a list of vendors that range from low to higher budgets. This list has been compiled with great detail and from this list you can create your own mini list of whom you may want to contact.

* Ideas Galore If you want to find a way to make your wedding memorable and unique, you will have the opportunity to find a way to make the wedding day reflect you as a couple. You will be able to plan the theme of your wedding to the very last little detail.

* Brides of the Round Table - At the end of the evening, we will have a question and answer session to

Shining Moments is on it's own

Well, I just wanted to clarify for some people that my company, Shining Moments Consulting, will no longer be contracting its services through A Moment Like This Wedding Planners. I still support AMLTWP and wish them continued success. Working with them over the last 9 months has been a GREAT experience.

I will still be providing event planning services. I will also be operating the Wedding Bazaar, but instead I will be doing it on my own as well as the Wedding Workshops that I have done in the past. Nothing has really changed in the stand point of Shining Moments Consulting except that I will be advertising my own company again and it's my company name at the top of the contract instead of AMLTWP's.

So watch for more exciting ventures and deals from Shining Moments in the new year!

Happy New Year,
Teresa Reimer

A New Addition

For the last six weeks I have been a little preoccupied. As some people know, I was expecting a baby at the time of the Wedding Bazaar. I was supposed to have three weeks to go, but my newest addition to my family felt like he needed to arrive earlier. Jacob was born on November 6th.

As a planner, his early arrival sort of threw a wrench in my arrangements. Luckily I had some prior arrangements made but I was also going to have a birthday party that following weekend for my daughter who was turning 3 the day before Jacob was due. Therefore we were having her party ahead of time. Little did we know that Jacob obviously felt he needed to be the center of attention instead. I had made arrangements for helpers to come in and work at the party and luckily I wasn't needing to cancel it. Everyone helped out to ensure that Cassidy still had her special day, even though Jacob was only 5 days old.

How does any of this relate to being a wedding planner, you ask? Well, it is just another example of how "you never know what to expect" and how you deal with these interruptions is going to affect the outcome of any special day.

One aspect of a great wedding planner, is being able to think quickly on your feet. When looking for a wedding planner, they obviously need to be organized, but they have to be able to make split second decisions that will still give your day the "feel" that you are looking for.

From cake disasters to wedding crashers, a bride & groom shouldn't be bothered. That is what a wedding planner is for, to take care of these issues on the day of your function.
